The American edition of Harper’s Bazaar is my favourite magazine. I have a subscription and simply love receiving it in the post - I feel like all of my Christmas’s have come at once!! I can never wait until I get home to read it - and so find that I’m not all that productive at work on the day it arrives ………..
This month’s cover girl is Gwyneth Paltrow. As always, she looks divine. However, after reading the editor’s letter of welcome to the issue, I realised that the photoshoot was based on ‘Auntie Mame’. That now makes sense - as I couldn’t quite correlate the photo shoot to the copy in the related article.
Please tell me you have seen the film Mame. It is just magical and everyone should see it at some stage. It will make you laugh. I promise!!!
Auntie Mame or Mame (depending upon which version you have seen) is the story of a young boy, Patrick, who grows up with his deceased father’s eccentric sister, Mame Dennis.
There was a version made with Rosalind Russell,

and later on with Lucille Ball.

I have seen the latter version and loved it. The script is witty, the sets and costumes are magical and it is a lovely film for all to watch. So, if you haven’t seen it, please go and rent or buy a copy now. You won’t regret it.
