Yves Saint Laurent Retrospective

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010 by mfn

A retrospective of Yves Saint Laurent’s work is being held at the Petit Palais Museum in Paris, finishing on 29 August 2010.

This exhibition has been produced in association with the Pierre Bergé–Yves Saint Laurent Foundation, under the patronage of Madame Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.

How exciting!

The exhibition is described as follows on the on Petit Palais website:

This exhibition presents a sweeping panorama of Yves Saint Laurent’s forty years of creativity. It is organised thematically, offering a selection of 307 haute couture and ready-to wear garments, together with photographs, drawings and films.

The presentation of the creations is meticulously staged, from Saint Laurent’s beginnings with Dior in 1958 – the famous “Trapeze” collection – to the splendour of his evening dresses.

To follow are some of the outfits I would hope to see at the exhibition:

Marina Rust

Over the years, I have enjoyed reading articles written by Marina Rust, a contributing editor at American Vogue.

Whether they are about stages of her life – wedding, pregnancy, holidays or more formal assignments I always find the tone, manner and fluency with which she writes, enchanting.

I have often wondered what she is like in real life ………… and I have come to the conclusion that she must be how she writes; charming, thoughtful, gracious and elegant.

Her simple, yet stylish manner of dressing only helps to reinforce my point of view.

She manages to pull off colour with aplomb,
