‘Grace Kelly Style’ by Kristina Haugland has just been released and it is quite divine.

It takes you through the styles she wore during the different stages of her life – actress, bride and finally, Princess.

However – as Grace knew what style worked for her, not much changes over the years, which is a blessing for the reader, as you get to see page after page of elegant dressing.

Her clothing was always right for the occasion. Simple, uncluttered and unpretentious – and always worn with dignity and confidence.

I have loved looking at all of these photos – Grace makes looking elegant look so effortless and is a reminder that good grooming never goes out of style.

An exhibition of Grace Kelly’s dresses opened yesterday at the V&A, to coincide with the launch of this book. I would love to see it – the V&A do stage the most exquisite exhibitions and I believe that this would be breathtaking.

I had much fun trying to work out which pictures to include – in fact I could have been here all day, but I decided to stop at these.

Many people don’t like being told what to wear and as such, don’t like dress codes on invitations. I on the other hand, love them! It means I can then get straight to the fun part of working out what I am going to wear, rather than trying to decipher what would be appropriate, given the occasion.

I can only assume that people who decide to dress against the code advised have not thought through their actions properly, as not dressing as requested is a direct insult to your host. Why would you want to upset the person who has been so kind as to invite you to their event? It defies all logic to me.

There is one man however, who gets it right every time. Tom Ford. It helps of course that he has a fashion background, but his ability to look appropriate and elegant at all times is due to more than that. This gentleman has manners.
