A thoughtful bride

With the Royal wedding only days away, I have been thinking back to Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s wedding.

I can’t believe that Lady Diana managed to have such composure and dignity on her wedding day, given she was merely 19 years old.

It is also interesting to note, that even though it was ‘her’ day and she was to become a Princess, she didn’t forget her manners.

Late, on the day of the wedding, around 11pm, Princess Diana took the time to call all of the people who had helped make her day so special - such as the Emanuels, her make-up artist - Barbara Daly, the florist……  The list goes on. This phone call was promptly followed up with a personal and heartfelt letter, once Diana had returned from her honeymoon.

I don’t know many brides who would think to do that on their wedding day, let alone one who was due (at that stage) to be the future Queen of England.

Diana it would appear, was a voracious letter writer - and was always first to write and send a thank you note and I am sure she passed down such lovely manners to her sons.

Her letterhead post divorce was a red ‘D’, with a crown placed above it and the wording Kensington Palace centered underneath - accompanied by matching red lined envelopes. As such, I’m sure she would approve of the rest of us (non-royals that is) using note cards with our initials on them with matching lined envelopes. In fact, I think she would have liked this one in particular ….
