Wisdom according to Christopher Reeve

The other day I was stopped in my tracks when reading the ‘Weekly Wisdom’ quote from The Bright Side Project. The quote they chose was so powerful, inspiring and poignant that I just had to share it with you.

The Bright Side Project – Sunshine Delivered Daily

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010 by mfn

I stumbled across this site the other day, http://thebrightsideproject.com/ and I must say, I’m quite delighted to have done so.

To be honest, I wasn’t having the best of days when I came across this site – so I like to think it was fate, intervening to get me back on the path of happiness. And I’m pleased to say it worked!

Two ladies run the site, ‘Miss K’ and ‘Miss B’ and this is how they explain how the site came to be:

Once upon a time, it was very, very gloomy.  The skies thundered, the economy crumbled, and people only spoke to grumble. Everything looked bleak, bleak, bleak.

Until one day, shortly after a market crash and right before another round of layoffs, a girl named Miss B. came up with a terrifically bright idea.  As she later explained to her friend and business partner, Miss K, their mission would be to scour the world for the best in fashion, design, and décor.  Then, one by one and everyday, they would give it all away to some very lucky people.

This is how The Bright Side Project began on a wintry, grey day in February.

As such, this is their mission:

The Bright Side Project is here to bring you sunshine every day with themed, daily giveaways. We hope to inspire you to stop for a second and remember life is (still) beautiful and there is goodness in the world.

What a lovely idea.

I don’t normally do this – but I wrote to the founder, ‘Miss B’ to tell how just how much I loved what she is doing. Deciding to make people happy as your job – how utterly delightful!

I must admit. I don’t really need the give away part (that said I did enter for the Kate Spade handbag – it wanted me too!) it’s more the idea that there is a team of people working on helping other people be happy – in a modern day way.

It makes me smile just thinking about it.

Please visit their site. I hope it makes you as happy as it has made me!

The Bright Side has a lovely lemon logo. This was the best I could do!
